In what has become somewhat of a tradition, we’re attending the Weslaco Onion Fest today. This is the festivals 25th anniversary, and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Held each year at the Weslaco City Park, organizers have expanded the booth area to make more room around two stages with continuous entertainment featuring some of the best south-Texas talent with country and tejano music. And, of course, what would any onion fest be without the crowning of Miss Onion Festival and an onion eating content.
The ‘Awesome Blossom’ fried onion treat appears to be the hit item with long lines all day. They also have some great Tex-Mex BBQ and of course plenty of ice cold beers.
