We’re back to Lake Pueblo Arkansas Point campground, one of our favorite nearby State Parks. We’re here to bike, explore and check out new restaurants in Pueblo. And, it’s Pueblo Chili & Frijoles Festival weekend, so plenty to see and do.
From the south marina campground, it’s easy to jump on the Arkansas River trail and bike all the way through Pueblo to the south side at Runyon Lake, and the confluence of Fountain Creek. From here the trail continues north all the way to the CSU Pueblo campus. Our biking took us as far as S Main Street with a rest stop at Ruby’s Wine, Beer & Boards. This fun eatery is built in a former gas station is at the corner of Broadway and Abriendo and offers plenty of tasty brews, and unique charcuterie boards. We enjoyed it!
For dinner, we enjoyed Brues Alehouse and Brewing Company, one of our favorite places along the Pueblo Riverwalk. After dinner we wandered along the river and joined some Chil fest goers for a mini balloon glow.
Saturday found us at Gray’s Coors Tavern, home of the original slopper. For those that don’t know, a southern Colorado slopper is an open-face cheeseburger completely smothered in thick, spicy pork green chili (of course made from Pueblo Chilies!) Gray’s is a fun tavern with indoor and outdoor seating and very, very good sloppers! After lunch we returned to the lake and rode the bikes across to the north marina where we enjoyed a few cold beers. All in all, about 60 miles of biking around Pueblo, a good workout for our e-bikes!
This is probably the last “recreational” camping we’ll do this year. If the weather isn’t too cold, we’ll take the RV to Loveland for a few days around Thanksgiving. Our next outing will be to Arizona – we’re planning a mid-January departure to meet the Montana Owners group in Quartzsite to kick-off our Arizona winter camping.
2026 has been another amazing year of RV travels, seeing great places and spending time with good friends. We logged about 7500 miles, all the way from the Olympic Peninsula in Washington to southern Arizona and lots of places in between. Until next year…

Wish I had a slopper for lunch..Sounds delicious
