This weekend we’re in Peak One federal campground just outside of Frisco, CO. We’re here once again for the annual Frisco BBQ Challenge. We’re in site #15, and along with friends in site #14 & #17 we’ll enjoy two days of concerts, BBQ and beautiful camping along Lake Dillion.
After having enjoyed the Frisco BBQ challenge in 2014, we’re back this year to enjoy BBQ, beer and bands on Frisco’s Main Street. And, once again we’re at Peak One campground on the shores of Lake Dillon in sites #16 & 17. These are dry back-in sites with a fire ring and picnic table. Sites #15 and #17 would be optimal.
We’re parked in sites #19, 21 and 23 at Peak One, a federal campground just east of Frisco, Colorado. We’ve camped at Peak One numerous times where we always enjoy the bike paths around the lake and into downtown Frisco. This weekend we’re here to cheer on friends that will be running the Warrior Dash at Copper Mountain.
Before leaving for home on Sunday we check out a few of the recently vacated sites. Sites #55 and #56 offer great lake views from a fairly private overlook area. And, Site #15 would be a great individual site.
Continuing the “Colorado Festival” theme, this weekend we’re attending the 21st Annual Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco, CO. We’re parked at Peak One, a Federal campgound on the shores of Dillon Reservoir. We’re in sites #38 and #39, back-in sites on the west end of the campground. Peak One has a total of 79 sites and occupies space on a peninsula just south of the Dillon Marina. The campground was devastated by the Mountain Pine Beetle attacks of the last 15 years and is just now beginning to show some recovery with the many trees that were hand planted and nurtured by sprinkling systems. For the first time in many years, Peak One has a repaired water system that offers a few water taps and flush toilets.
With connections to the Summit Country trail system, this lakeside campground is ideal for biking or hiking to Frisco or Breckenridge. Transit connections also provide bus access to other Summit County locations.
