We’re about an hour north of Trinidad, our first stop on the Texas Road Trip 2011. While our route will be very similar to last year, Trinidad Lake State Park will probably be the only place we have stayed before. Unlike the 2010 trip, we’re going to try to avoid the commercial, urban RV parks and instead explore several state parks along our route. We’ll visit Elephant Butte State Park in New Mexico. In Texas we’re planning to see 4 state parks, Hueco Tanks, Davis Mountains, South Llano River and Palo Duro Canyon. We will make a few stops at commercial RV parks in Santa Fe and outside of San Antonio. In another change from last year, instead of traveling every day, we’re planning 2 nights in Davis Mountains, near the Big Bend area. And, we are purposely planning to make a slight detour into Kansas so that we can affix our ‘been-there’ sticker to our US travels map. More once we get parked in Trinidad…
